ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Situated within the beautiful 1,000 hectare Umhloti Nature Reserve, 15 kilometres outside Nelspruit, the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) South Africa Chimpanzee Sanctuary is home to chimps that have been misplaced from their natural habitats in Africa.
Chimp Eden was established in 2006 and is the first and only chimpanzee sanctuary in South Africa. This JGI chimpanzee sanctuary brings the world of chimpanzees closer to humanity through education end eco-tourism.
Visitors have a unique opportunity to see chimpanzees in semi-wild enclosures. The chimps show normal social interaction and behavioral patterns despite their traumatic backgrounds as pets, entertainment animals and victims of the bushmeat trade.

Från och med januari 2013 sköter Jane Goodall Institute SA vårdandet och all verksamhet i schimpansreservatet. Institutet är en ideell organisation och alla intäkter går direkt tillbaka till JGI Chimp Eden. De arbetar för att bevara och skydda schimpanserna samt hjälpa till med finansieringen av Roots and Shoots uppsökande verksamhetsprogram. Välkommen att förälska dig i livet på nytt!
